ALDI Standard

ALDI-specific quality and food safety requirements for suppliers

ALDI Standard refers to the proprietary supplier requirements established by ALDI (Süd and Nord) for food and non-food product sourcing. ALDI is one of the largest discount retailers globally, with strong presence in Germany, UK, US, and across Europe.

For food suppliers, ALDI typically requires: - IFS Food Higher Level OR BRCGS AA grade certification (depending on country). - ALDI Code of Conduct (social standards) compliance — typically verified via SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) or BSCI. - Specific product specifications (often more stringent than legal minimums). - Traceability and full chain of custody.

ALDI conducts unannounced supplier audits and product testing. Failures can result in delisting or quarantine.

For Egyptian food manufacturers and growers serving ALDI Süd/Nord, demonstrating compliance with both food safety (IFS/BRCGS) and social standards (SMETA/BSCI) is essential. Tomato paste, citrus, frozen vegetables, and frozen fruit are common Egyptian categories supplied to ALDI.

FoodGate Audit conducts ALDI-readiness assessments combining IFS pre-audit + SMETA/BSCI gap analysis.
